You’re the Expert: How’s Your MS Today?

It was over two years ago that we started the Life with Multiple Sclerosis Self-Evaluation Scale (LWM3S). In short, it’s a simple 1-10 scale whereby: 1 = The best my symptoms have felt since my diagnosis with MS 10 = The worst my symptoms have felt since my diagnosis with MS This is, obviously, a subjective scale, but you are the subject. You are the only one living inside of your head, your body, and your spirit. You are the only one who can answer this question. I find it interesting to see how I rate my place on the LWM3S scale from month to month. I can also look back at what might have been happening in my life and see if there are correlations to spikes or valleys in my symptoms. I can also see when there has been a slide, and I can definitely say that I’m currently in the midst of a months-long slide that became a skid and is now something of a tumble. I Am Definitely ‘Progressing’ My legs are getting worse, I’m finding myself stuttering when trying to get my point across more often, and my coupled weakness and fatigue are making each day a series of wind sprints to get things done, followed by crashes like the sterling after Brexit. I’m not as bad as I was at my worst since diagnosis, but I’m going to have to place myself at an 8 this month. I am definitely “progressing.” Typing has become a one-handed task, feeding myself is an affair of high concentration, and even our dogs are noticing my lethargy.
