Synchronous endometrioid adenocarcinomas in the uterine cervix and corpus
Abstract It is frequently difficult to distinguish multiple primary carcinomas from single primary carcinoma with metastasis. Here, we report a case of synchronous endometrioid adenocarcinomas that independently occurred in the uterine cervix and corpus. A 47‐year‐old woman complaining of genital bleeding was preoperatively diagnosed with cervical adenocarcinoma with an endometrial lesion. On surgical treatment, two separate malignant lesions bearing endometrioid adenocarcinoma were identified in the uterine cervix and cavity. Although both lesions expressed the same type of human papillomavirus (HPV) gene, type 16, microscopic continuity was not observed. Furthermore, we detected a critical difference in PTEN mutation between the tumors and finally diagnosed this case as multiple primary cancers. This is the first report to show multiple primary endometrioid adenocarcinomas simultaneously arising in the uterine cervix and corpus. Considering the rarity of this case, the coexistence of HPV suggests its possible involvement in the carcinogenesis of the endometrioid adenocarcinomas.

AbstractGlioblastoma is a devastating tumor affecting the central nervous system with infiltrative capacity, high proliferation rate and chemoresistance. Therefore, it is urgent to find new therapeutic alternatives that improve this prognosis. Herein, we focused on tannic acid (TA) a polyphenol with antioxidant and antiproliferative activities. In this work, the antitumor and antioxidant effects of TA on rat (C6) glioblastoma cells and their cytotoxicity relative to primary astrocyte cultures were evaluated in vitro. Cells were exposed to TA of 6.25 to 75 μM for 24, 48 and/or 72 h. In addition, colony formati...
We present a case of rhabdomyolysis related to treatment with sorafenib in a patient with multifocal hepatocellular carcinoma. Rhabdomyolysis is a severe situation and potentially fatal. There are no laboratory data that can predict this condition. Early diagnosis is essential for prognosis. Rhabdomyolysis has been described as an adverse reaction of several drugs but it is not frequently related to sorafenib. PMID: 31960700 [PubMed - as supplied by publisher]
CONCLUSIONS: in our experience, surgery under ERAS protocols did not have an impact on decreasing global QOL in patients undergoing elective colorectal cancer surgery. The use of ERAS protocols in colorectal surgery achieves a positive influence, not only by decreasing surgical-related complications but also in terms of functional recovery, by decreasing the negative effects of surgery on patient QOL. Authors: Monsalve Alonso S, Miranda García P, Santander Vaquero C Abstract Cap-polyposis is a rare benign condition characterized by inflammatory colorectal polyps covered by a "cap" of fibrinopurulent exudate. Mucous diarrhea and rectal bleeding are frequent symtoms. It can be difficult to diagnose and it is necessary to make a differential diagnosis from other entities. Its pathogenesis is unknown and it has a variable clinical course. The optimal treatment has not been established. PMID: 31960689 [PubMed - as supplied by publisher]
We report the case of a 60-year-old male with a giant colorectal laterally spreading tumor at the recto-sigmoid junction. A single tunnel-assisted endoscopic submucosal dissection was performed that constructed a submucosal tunnel along the longitude axis of the tumor. An en bloc resection was achieved with no perforation or post-operative bleeding and a comparatively low procedure time. PMID: 31960681 [PubMed - as supplied by publisher]
