Light's Criteria Calculator

by shilpamary (Posted Thu Jun 16, 2016 10:44 am)Recently, I have checked in https://www.easycalculation.com/medical ... ulator.php calculator about the calculation of light's criteria based on protein and LDH parameters. Also I have studied about light's criteria in biology in which pleural effusion is a type of fluid, built in the space of lungs and chest cavity. The main causes for Pleural effusion are Congestive heart failure, kidney failure, infection, malignancy, pulmonary embolism, hypoalbuminemia, cirrhosis, trauma and so on.Do we have treatment for this type of exudates and will it get cure completely?

Authors: Dai T, Deng M, Ye L, Liu R, Lin G, Chen X, Li H, Liu W, Yang Y, Chen G, Wang G Abstract The gamma-glutamyl transpeptidase to platelet ratio (GPR) has been reported as a non-invasive parameter for evaluating hepatic fibrosis and cirrhosis. However, only a few of studies investigated the relationship between GPR and liver cancer. Here, we sought to clarify the prognostic value of GPR as well as its combination with fibrinogen in patients with HBV-related hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC). We performed a retrospective study using data collected from 302 HCC patients, and evaluated the association between GPR, fi...

Authors: Hankinson SJ, Williams CH, Ton VK, Gottlieb SS, Hong CC Abstract INTRODUCTION: Heart failure is associated with increased neurohormonal activation that results in changes in body composition including volume overload and the loss of skeletal muscle, body fat, and bone density. Bioelectrical impedance measures body composition based on the conduction of electrical current through body fluids. AREAS COVERED: The PubMed and Scopus databases were reviewed up to the third week of June 2020. Cross-sectional studies, retrospective observational studies, prospective observational studies, and randomized contro...

Conclusion: Currently, available evidence indicates that SMI, as an adjuvant for basic Western medicine treatment, can improve the cardiac function of patients with CHF with good safety outcomes. Because of the high risk of bias among the included RCTs and the large heterogeneity of partial outcomes, the findings of this study must be verified by high-quality studies with large sample sizes. CONCLUSIONS: Pleural effusion was found in 10.1% of patients treated in a large multidisciplinary hospital. CHF was the leading cause of PE. Although 30-day mortality in patients with CHF was relatively high, it was lower than that in parapneumonic PE and MPE. PMID: 30406935 [PubMed - as supplied by publisher]

Aim: To evaluate the diagnostic yield of pleural fluid total protein, albumin, globulin levels and pleural fluid albumin/globulin ratios in different diseases.Method: Retrospective review. All patients with pleural effusions of whose final diagnoses, pleural fluid and serum total protein, albumin and globulin were enrolled. Globulin levels were calculated as the difference between total proteins and albumin. Patients were grouped based on their diagnosis as; tuberculosis pleurisy (TP), parapneumonic effusion (PPE), malign pleural effusion (MPE) and others. Results: A total of 237 patients were enrolled. The average age was 6...
