Effect of CYP2C9, VKORC1, and CYP4F2 polymorphisms on warfarin maintenance dose in children aged less than 18 years: a protocol for systematic review and meta-analysis

Discussion Our study will provide a comprehensive systematic review and meta-analysis on the potential effects of CYP2C9, VKORC1, or CYP4F2 on the warfarin maintenance dose in children, exploring the feasibility of the development of pharmacogenetic-guided warfarin dosing algorithm for children on oral vitamin K antagonists. Systematic review registration The review has been registered with PROSPERO (registration number CRD42015016172).

In order to assess a potential cardioembolic source an echocardiogram was performed revealing a large mass consistent with a thrombus in transit through a patent foramen ovale. Due to the high risk of systemic embolism emergent surgical thrombectomy was performed,...

We report a young 22-year-old female with unknown etiology of a pseudoaneurysm, who was previously managed as a psychiatric case and for musculoskeletal pain. On subsequent investigation and confirmation with cardiac magnetic resonance imaging, aneurysmectomy was done. This is a rare case in a young 22-year-old woman with a ventricular pseudoaneurysm of unknown etiology. Considering the high risk for rupture of a ventricular pseudoaneurysm, surgical resection was mandatory with no complications intra- and postprocedure.

In recent years, increasing awareness and improved screening have resulted in an increased prevalence of cardiac amyloidosis, with contemporary estimates reporting a prevalence of 18 to 55 cases per 100,000 person-years, and accounting for...

This study aimed to estimate MetS status and its associations with geography, economic development, birth weight, and parental education of Chinese children and adolescents. METHODS: Data were derived from 15,045 participants aged 7-18 years across seven Chinese provinces. Physical measurement and blood tests were conducted to assess the five classical MetS components described by the International Diabetes Federation, including abdominal obesity (the essential component), high blood pressure, low high-density cholesterol (HDL-C), high triglyceride, and elevated fasting glucose (FG). Logistic regression was adopted to ...

Abstract Background: Evidence available suggests that periprocedural bradycardia negates the benefit of primary percutaneous coronary intervention (PPCI) and worsens the prognosis of patients with acute ST-elevation myocardial infarction (STEMI). Objective: To investigate the risk factors of periprocedural bradycardia during PPCI in patients with acute STEMI. Methods: We enrolled 2,536 acute STEMI patients who had PPCI from November 2007 to June 2018 in Beijing Anzhen Hospital, Capital Medical University. We divided all patients into two groups according to periprocedural bradycardia (preoperative heart ...

This study suggests that women after contraception-related VTE, similar to those following unprovoked VTE, have denser fibrin clot formation and impaired clot lysis. These findings might imply higher risk of VTE recurrence in women with the prothrombotic clot phenotype. PMID: 31827635 [PubMed - in process]
