Intraligamental Myomectomy Strategy Using Laparoscopy

Conclusion (s): Surgical treatment of IM is empirically difficult. It is important to use an approach that considers the location, size and shape of the myoma. All types of IM presented with similar symptoms and the highest blood loss occurred during LM of a LIM.

Conclusion: The voucher programme enhanced uptake of the complete continuum of maternal care and the benefits extended to the most vulnerable women. However, a lack of continued transition through the continuum of maternal care was identified. This insight can assist in designing effective interventions to prevent intermittent or interrupted care-seeking. Programmes that improve access to quality healthcare in pregnancy, childbirth and the postnatal period can have wide-ranging benefits. A coherent continuum-based approach to understanding maternal care-seeking behaviour is thus expected to have a greater impact on materna...

Conclusion: Although left-sided gallbladder is a very rare disease, it is possible to diagnose it preoperatively and perform laparoscopic cholecystectomy safely by adjusting port position. The common important features of left-sided gallbladder include distribution of the left portal vein crossing over to the right side of the liver and increased size of the left portal vein. These variations may have important clinical implications in the management of hepatic resection including donor hepatectomy. PMID: 31824885 [PubMed]

Epithelioid trophoblastic tumor is a malignancy derived from the chorionic laeve-type intermediate trophoblast with sufficient rarity that the vast majority of literature on the topic exists in the form of case reports and small series. Classically, it is regarded as a well-circumscribed tumor with an expansile growth pattern that occurs in reproductive-aged women, usually after a normal pregnancy. However, we recently encountered a case of epithelioid trophoblastic tumor with aggressive spread throughout the abdomen and pelvis in a 68-yr-old female presenting 30 yr after her last delivery. Although to our knowledge...

The endopelvic fascia is a biomechanical network of supportive tissue that suspends and secures the female reproductive organs to the pelvic sidewall. Several visceral adnexal and uterine ligaments are part of this framework, and we have observed that smooth muscle tumors (SMTs) arising from these structures morphologically resemble gynecologic smooth muscle neoplasms. To determine whether gynecologic smooth muscle tumor criteria for malignancy are valid in these tumors, we evaluated the morphologic features of 67 tumors from 67 patients and correlated our findings with patient outcome. Using current uterine SMT WHO defini...

This study seeks to address this. 51 professionally produced stillbirth memento photographs have been sampled, anonymised and analysed. Using a content analysis methodology, imagery was characterised by aesthetic and semantic properties. The results were then cross-referenced against existing stillbirth scholarship, data from an interview study with people who had experienced pregnancy loss, and against image theories. The content analysis identified four distinctive image tropes in the sample: images of mother, father and baby, with the baby being held and the parents touching; macro photography of the baby; portrait phot...

Authors: Lin D, Yu Z, Chen X, Chen W, Zou Y, Hu J Abstract INTRODUCTION: the evidence with regard to the benefit of laparoscopic surgery for pancreatoduodenectomy is conflicting. The aim of this meta-analysis was to compare the short-term outcomes in patients undergoing laparoscopic or open pancreatoduodenectomy via randomized controlled trial studies. METHODS: PubMed, Embase and Cochrane Library databases were searched for studies addressing laparoscopic versus open pancreatoduodenectomy up to February 2019. Only randomized controlled trial studies were included. RESULTS: three randomized controlled trial ...

The current study investigated the expression and effects of FGA in endometriosis. It also evaluated the effects of FGA on human endometrial stromal cells and studied the possible mechanism.DesignThis was a cross-sectional analysis of FGA...
