How America Treats Preschoolers With ADHD, In Charts

More than 1 in 9 school children–6.4 million kids–are diagnosed with attention deficit hyperactivity disorder, a condition marked by an inability to sit still or to focus and pay attention. Half of them are medicated for the condition. Rates of the diagnosis have been skyrocketing, increasing 3% to 6% a year, and medication use has been rising even faster, at 7% a year.
