Genesis, genes and epigenetics of endometriosis-associated infertility, Published online: 18 March 2019; doi:10.1038/s41574-019-0191-9Jae-Wook Jeong and colleagues report that histone deacetylase 3 (HDAC3) is downregulated in the endometrium of women with endometriosis. In addition, they show that the loss of HDAC3 is associated with aberrant hormonal signalling and increased fibrosis in the endometrium and impaired endometrial receptivity.

Abstract Endometriosis is characterized by extra-uterine growth of endometrial tissue accompanied by adverse clinical manifestations including chronic pelvic pain and infertility. Retrograde menstruation, the efflux of endometrium into the peritoneal cavity during menstruation, is believed to contribute to implantation of endometrial tissue and formation of endometriotic lesions at ectopic sites. While it is established through various rodent and non-human primate models that endometrial tissue fragments, as well as non-dissociated stroma and glands, are capable of seeding endometriosis in a manner mimicking retro...

AbstractPurposeTo investigate a possible influence of repetitive micro-traumata on the ovaries in the course of oocyte retrieval during IVF/ICSI treatment on serum anti-M üllerian hormone (AMH) levels.MethodsThe study included retrospectively collected data from women who underwent three or more consecutive IVF/ICSI treatments between 2007 and 2017. The primary endpoint of the study was to evaluate changes in serum AMH levels on cycle days 1 –3 during the course of repetitive IVF/ICSI treatments.ResultsA total of 125 patients were included in this study. Median AMH levels before the first, second and third IVF/I...

Introduction: Endometriosis is an enigmatic disease affecting up to 10% of reproductive-aged women causing pain and infertility. Deep infiltrating endometriosis (DIE) is the most severe form of the disease. The impact of surgical treatment for deep endometriosis on fertility success rate of assisted reproduction techniques (ART) is not clear.

Abstract The ovarian steroid hormones, estrogen (E2) and progesterone (P4), are essential regulators of uterine biology. The imbalance of these ovarian steroid hormones leads to uterine diseases such as endometrial cancer, endometriosis, and infertility. Mitogen-inducible gene 6 (MIG-6) is an adaptor protein. MIG-6 mediates P4 signaling and acts as a tumor suppressor during endometrial tumorigenesis in both humans and mice. In previous studies, we developed the conditional knockout of Mig-6 in all uterine compartments (Pgrcre/+Mig-6f/f; Mig-6KO) and endometrial epithelial cell-specific Mig-6 knockout (Sprr2fcre/+M...
