The present study was to investigate the in vitro activity of honokiol against A549 and 95-D human lung cancer cells.Main methodsA549 and 95-D cells were used with honokiol treatment. Cell viability was determined by CCK-8 assay. The cell migration and apoptosis were evaluated by wound hea...

This study aimed to explore whether a correlation exists between the incidence and mortality of cancers and normalized internet search volumes on the big data platform, Baidu. We also assessed whether the distribution of people who searched for specific types of cancer differed by gender. Finally, we determined whether there were regional disparities among people who searched the Web for cancer-related information. Methods: Standard Boolean operators were used to choose search terms for each type of cancer. Spearman’s correlation analysis was used to explore correlations among monthly search index values for each can...

Conclusions: The detection of somatic DDX41 mutations at near-heterozygous frequencies on NGS panel testing is highly suggestive of a germline mutation and germline testing is strongly recommended. Our data validates existing reports in DDX41 germline patients including primarily high grade myeloid neoplasms, diploid cytogenetics, and later age at diagnosis. Interestingly nearly half of our patients had antecedent cytopenias, most often leukopenia. NGS screening for DDX41 mutations through multi-disciplinary collaboration is a useful and feasible tool to screen unselected myeloid neoplasm patients for high likelihood of ge...

We examined gene upregulation of the 33 aGPCRs and assessed the association between each gene and patient's overall survival (OS); genes that were significantly associated with shorter overall survival were combined in one signature (poor survival genes) for further analysis to test their association with patient's clinical and molecular characteristics and clinical outcome. To gain an insight into the mechanistic role of aGPCRs in AML, we conducted Ingenuity Pathway Analysis (IPA) to identify potential pathways common among the poor survival aGPCR genes, and between the aGPCRs genes and AML frequently mutated genes.Result...

In this study, we sought to evaluate the risk of development of SPMs among CLL patients diagnosed from 2000-2014.Methods: We used the SEER 18 registries for the calculation of risk of SPMs and included CLL cases that were confirmed histologically between 2000-2014 (https://seer.cancer.gov/). SPMs diagnosed within 2 months of primary CLL diagnosis were excluded. Time to SPM was calculated by subtracting second malignancy survival/follow-up time from CLL survival/follow-up time. The SEER*Stat Multiple Primary-SIR tool was used to calculate SIRs for secondary malignancies by comparing these patients' subsequent cancer experie...

Conclusion: Survivors of CML have a generally favorable outcome. However late relapses may occur (14% in our series) often requiring a change in treatment. This underscores the need to continued monitoring beyond 5 years. Co-morbidities and second malignancies may also occur in many patients, underscoring the need for a holistic follow-up of these patients.DisclosuresBose: Celgene Corporation: Honoraria, Research Funding; Incyte Corporation: Honoraria, Research Funding; Blueprint Medicines Corporation: Research Funding; Constellation Pharmaceuticals: Research Funding; Astellas Pharmaceuticals: Research Funding; Pfizer, Inc...

Their structures were elucidated by spectroscopic analysis, including HR QTOF MS, 1D and 2D NMR. Among isolates, verrucorosterone (7), 5,6α-epoxy-3β-hydroxy-(22E)-ergosta-...

Conclusions: Sepsis is associated with increased or decreased risks for a small group of cancers. Factors that may explain these associations include etiologic effects of bacterial infections, inflammation, or use of antibiotics. Other associations may reflect the presence of precursor conditions (e.g., cirrhosis, colorectal polyps) or patterns in ascertainment of cancer and screening. Conclusion The patient-based sensitivity, specificity and accuracy of WB MRI including DWI were comparable with those of PET/MRI. On the other hand, the lesion-based sensitivities of WB MRI were relatively low, mainly because of the low detectability of small lymph node metastasis. The combination of T2WI and DWI showed acceptable detectability; however, the T1WI sequence showed no additional value to detect malignant lesions on both lesion- and patient-based sensitivities.
