Welcome healthcare chief reappointment

The BMA has welcomed the reappointment of Shona Robison as the Scottish cabinet secretary for health, wellbeing and sport. The association said it will bring continuity at a critical time for health services. Ms Robison, SNP MSP for Dundee East, (pictured above, left) served in the same role in the last parliament and has been closely involved in areas such as negotiating a new Scottish GP contract. BMA Scottish council chair Peter Bennie said: ‘I congratulate Shona Robison on her reappointment to the post and look forward to continuing to work with her at this critical time for the health sector in Scotland. ‘There are significant pressures on Scotland’s NHS as demands on the health service increase far faster than available resources. 'The decisions that are made now on the shape of the NHS will have lasting implications for decades to come. ‘By remaining as health secretary, Shona Robison brings welcome continuity and experience to the role that will stand her in good stead for the challenges that lie ahead.’
