Total hysterectomy after endometrial cancer – Jay’s Story

I felt I had to write this after reading so many negative stories about other people’s hysterectomies. I know many women do have a hard time after the op, but not everyone does. Many say it’s the bet thing that happened to them. I had painful, frequent and heavy periods most of my life, but always hated ‘doctor stuff’ so put up with it knowing it would end one day anyway. I had an uneventful and welcome menopause, and thought all my problems were over for about three years, then I started bleeding again. A reluctant trip to the GP led to scans, biopsies, and the endometrial cancer diagnosis. I had a total hysterectomy (with all the trimmings) a few weeks later, and have never felt better in my life. I was in hospital for only 48 hours, was glued back together – no external stitches, had a speedy recovery and was swimming, cycling, and hill walking within weeks. My lower half is more comfortable than it’s ever been! To anyone who is dreading their hysterectomy – don’t. Yes, you will be sore and tired at first, but it passes. It’s not always bad news. Be positive, know that it’s for the best, give yourself time to recover and get your strength back, and unless you’re one of the unlucky ones, you will get a new lease of life. *************************************************************** Now available on our online store and all other online book store’s.
