Mom Celebrates Rainbow Baby With IVF-Themed Pregnancy Announcement

When Macy Rodeffer learned that she was pregnant, she decided to announce the news with a photo that acknowledged her long journey with IVF. The mom-to-be posted an Instagram photo of her IVF medication in the shape of a heart around an ultrasound photo and onesie that says "Worth the Wait and Wait and Wait." "I knew that my announcement would hurt women still waiting for their baby, because I've been there before myself," Rodeffer told The Huffington Post. "It was important to me that my announcement not only convey my joy, but also share my struggle and encourage women not to give up." "While I don't expect everyone to share their infertility struggle (as it's a deeply private thing), I felt passionate about being an advocate for women with infertility and pregnancy loss," she added. Rodeffer and her husband Tyler spent almost four years trying to conceive -- a painful time that involved three miscarriages, a diagnosis of male factor infertility and severe endometriosis and surgery to remove a large ovarian cyst. After a January IVF cycle, Rodeffer learned she was pregnant with her rainbow baby, a boy due in October. For the pregnancy announcement, she drew inspiration from a viral photo of an infant surrounded by her mom's IVF medication. "The moment I saw that photo I knew that I wanted to do something that included all of my medicines, too," Rodeffer told HuffPost. The mom-to-be wants her photo to inspire...

The chances of getting pregnant after IVF depend to a large extent on the quality of the woman's eggs, and this is why older women have lower pregnancy rates. This is why testing for ovarian reserve is so important, and we measure the AMH level as well as the antral follicle count , so we have some sense of how well the patient is going to respond to superovulation, and what her chances of getting good quality embryos is going to be.The trouble is that these numbers only provide an estimate of static ovarian reserve – they are not dynamic functional tests. What we really want to know is how the patient will resp...

ConclusionsDespite very low medical resources, the cCHD detection program in French Guiana appears effective. Complex congenital heart diseases, especially univentricular hearts, are common and deserve strict medical attention. High prevalence might suggest for additional unknown risk factors.

The objective of the present study is to unravel the determinants of the variations of US properties during sol-gel transition of emulsion filled gels of agar and gelatin, due to the relative contributions (i) of their individual components and (ii) of their combined interactions. Nine model foods were designed, accounting gradually for the complexity of an emulsion filled gel composed of water, sucrose, agar, gelatin and sunflower oil. A quantitative US device was designed to monitor the sol-gel transition of the model foods. US velocity, reflectivity and attenuation were measured at 50°C (sol-state) and 20°C (gel...

Because patients are not sophisticated enough to be able to judge the technical competence of an IVF doctor , most of them use other alternatives to decide which doctor to select the best. This is why a lot of them will go to the busiest doctor , based on the assumption that if the doctor is busy , he must be good ! This is based on the concept of social proof , which is why a lot of follow a herd mentality when making a decision .The danger is that these clinics are so busy that they are completely impersonal, unless you happen to be a VIP or a celebrity. The doctor doesn't have enough time or energy to spend on you , as a...
