Research: pediatric meningitis dosing; cancer drug resistance; gene-testing economics

Computer models provide optimal dosing for pediatric TB meningitis Tuberculosis meningitis (TBM) is an inflammation of membranes lining the brain and spine (central nervous system, CNS) due to infection with TB bacteria. TBM is especially devastating in young children, in whom it is most common, carrying a high risk of death or severe neurologic impairments. But pediatric TBM drug regimens vary widely by country and the only clinical trial evaluating dosing in children was done 30 years ago.
