Huge Frozen Vegetables Recall Affects 35 States

Well, this certainly disrupts our peas of mind. CRF Frozen Foods is recalling 15 frozen vegetable products sold in 35 U.S. states, the U.S. Food and Drug Administration announced. The packages were sold under the brand names True Goodness by Meijer, Wellsley Farms Organic, Organic by Nature, and Schwan's.   The items -- which include frozen peas, corn and mixed vegetables -- "have the potential to be contaminated with Listeria monocytogenes." The bacterium can cause serious infections in anyone, though pregnant women, newborns, older adults and those with weakened immune systems are especially at risk, according to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention. There have been no reported illnesses tied to the vegetables, says the FDA, but  routine testing showed the potential for contamination.   The affected veggies were sold between Sept. 13, 2015 and March 16, 2016 to retailers including Costco in the following states: AL, AZ, CA, CO, CT, DE, FL, GA, ID, IL, IN, LA, MD, MA, MI, MN, MO, MT, NV, NH, NJ, NY, NC, OH, OR, PA, RI, SC, TN, UT, VT, VA, WA, WV, WI. They were also sold in four Canadian provinces. Visit the FDA website for more info on specific brand packaging.  Customers who purchased the frozen veggies should throw them away or take them back to the place of purchase for a full refund ... and maybe opt for some frozen pineapple tonight, instead.  -- This feed and its contents are the property of The Huff...
