Vegans & Sugar

I see some vegans eating like 12 bananas a day, and other types of fruit. How come vegans don't have T2DM eating all that sugar? Some nutritionists recommend eating only 2-3 fruits per day to have a moderation, but these people are eating like 12 mangoes, 12 bananas, berries..etc so how come they don't have diabetes? The guy I saw eating all that actually does biking so I suppose he needs the extra glucose but still is that not a bit over excessive?
