Abstract BACKGROUND: Biomarkers of oxidative stress (OS) are involved in the pathophysiology of hypertension (HTN) and endothelial dysfunction is also related to HTN. Still, a significant association of OS, as well as endothelial function, remains unclear in HTN. METHODS: Totalling 222 North Indian peoples aged 18-80 participated in the study. Of these participants, 74 were elderly hypertensive subjects (age ≥60 years), and 128 were normotensive subjects (age ≥60 years-control I; n = 74, and

AbstractThe advantages of sheathless guiding catheters over the conventional approach using sheaths in percutaneous coronary intervention (PCI) regarding access-site complications, particularly ultrasound-diagnosed radial artery occlusion (RAO), remain unknown. The present study investigated the incidence of access-site complications of transradial primary PCI using sheathless guiding catheters in acute coronary syndrome (ACS). This prospective study evaluated access-site complications in 500 patients with ACS undergoing sheathless transradial primary PCI. Doppler ultrasound evaluation of the radial arteries was performed ...

A 59-year-old man with known hypertension presented to the Emergency Department with 3  weeks of worsening shortness of breath and pleuritic chest pain. On arrival, vitals demonstrated a temperature of 36°C (98.2°F), heart rate of 120 beats/min, blood pressure of 134/87 mm Hg, respiratory rate of 40 breaths/min, and SpO2 of 96% on 6 L nasal cannula. A 12-lead electrocardiogram de monstrated inferior lead t-wave inversions. Physical examination revealed bibasilar crackles and left calf tenderness. Laboratory results demonstrated a D-dimer> 4000  ng/mL and high-sensitivity serial troponins of 7...

CONCLUSIONS: The incidence of de novo nephrolithiasis in ESRD patients on HD was 10.5%. Increased serum uric acid, decreased serum magnesium and ionized calcium, and absence of hypertension were associated with increased stone-formation in ESRD patients on HD. This study is a prospective multicenter randomized sham-controlled trial that aims to investigate the safety and efficacy of cryoablation RDN (cryo-RDN) using a novel dedicated cryoablation balloon catheter (Cryofocus, China). A total of 200 Chinese patients who have uncontrolled hypertension despite standard medical treatment will be enrolled. With drug standardization, eligible participants will be randomized in a 1:1 ratio to undergo cryo-RDN treatment or renal angiography alone as a sham treatment. The primary endpoint is defined as the change in 24-h ambulatory systolic blood pressure from baseline to 6  months....

We present the case of a 74-year-old woman with a history of hypertensive heart disease with preserved systolic function, atrial fibrillation and dyslipidemia. She had a DDDR pacemaker implanted in 2005 due to symptomatic complete atrioventricular block. The patient reported progressive fatigue, weakness, ascites with abdominal discomfort, and lower limb edema, accompanied by non-specific hepatic cholestasis on biochemical testing. Abdominal ultrasound revealed homogeneous hepatomegaly and dilatation of the inferior vena cava and upper hepatic veins, suggestive of congestive hepatopathy.Echocardiography revealed tricuspid r...
