A Case of Hashimoto's Encephalopathy treated with only Oral Thyroid medication and symptomatic therapy for seizures and psychosis, but Without Steroids (P2.257)

Conclusion: Hashimoto's encephalitis is a serious condition which is often under-diagnosed if not suspected. It should be considered in patients with diverse neuropsychiatric manifestations (including seizures). It is a diagnosis of exclusion and anti-thyroid antibodies and thyroid peroxidase antibodies must be measured for the diagnosis. Along with supportive management, empiric steroid treatment is usually administered as soon as infectious and other causes are ruled out. In this case the disease was controlled with only oral thyroid therapy.Disclosure: Dr. Kapoor has nothing to disclose. Dr. Couch has nothing to disclose.
