ConclusionIn germinomas, radiotherapy alone had superior survival outcomes compared to biopsy and resection, but no change in survival when compared to chemotherapy alone. Addition of radiotherapy or chemotherapy did not improve survival in MTs when compared to resection alone. Adding chemotherapy in NGGCT patients undergoing resection improved survival compared to resection alone.
do Gerard P. Zambetti Phosphodiesterases (PDEs) form a superfamily of enzymes that catalyze the hydrolysis of cyclic nucleotides adenosine 3′5′-cyclic monophosphate (cAMP) and guanosine 3′5′-cyclic monophosphate (cGMP) to their inactive 5′ monophosphates. cAMP plays a critical role as a second messenger in endocrine tissues, and activation of cAMP signaling has been reported in endocrine tumors. Germline variants in PDEs have been associated with benign cortisol-secreting adrenocortical adenomas and testicular germ cell cancer but not adrenocortical carcinoma. We perf...
We report the case of a 28-year-old man diagnosed with a mediastinal germ cell tumor 9 years after presenting with anti-Hu-positive limbic encephalitis.
Conclusion: For pediatric SSR lesions that first manifest as CDI, we should comprehensively consider clinical characteristics and imaging features to aid in their early differential diagnosis. Tumor markers and surgical histopathology are also great complements for the differential diagnosis. Additionally, various treatment strategies should be adopted according to different causes to improve the child's prognosis and quality of life.
Conclusion: MRI with DWI is as good as CT in detection of retroperitoneal lymph node metastases regardless of lymph node size, and it can be used as part of follow-up of testicular cancer patients instead of ionizing radiation producing imaging methods. Authors: Kalavska K, Kucerova L, Schmidtova S, Chovanec M, Mego M Abstract Testicular germ cell tumors (TGCTs) represent the most common neoplasia among young men. Management of TGCTs is an excellent example of curative outcomes in clinical oncology. The unique sensitivity to cisplatin-based chemotherapy regimens has led to establishing TGCTs as a "model of cancer cure." However, mechanisms and factors underlying pervasive growth of TGCTs are still poorly understood. It is suggested that unique cancer stem cell (CSC) niche exists in the testicular tumor microenvironment. CSC niche potentially contributes ...
CONCLUSIONS: Neurohypophyseal iGCTs are insidious tumors that may pose a diagnostic dilemma, as evidenced by the prolonged latency before radiographic confirmation. Serial imaging and close endocrine follow-up are recommended in patients with a characteristic clinical syndrome and negative imaging, due to the propensity for radiographic latency. Pretreatment biochemical abnormalities may indicate higher risk of posttreatment pituitary insufficiency, and all patients should receive careful endocrine follow-up. Local radiotherapy is prone to treatment failure, while whole-ventricle treatment is associated with improved survi...
ConclusionsIn specimens from both healthy and affected testes, AMHR-2 expression appears weaker in adult than in prepubertal tissue sections. The persistence of AMHR-2 expression seemingly hints at a possible effect of intratesticular AMH on the tubular walls.
