Polio eradication: End game and beyond

Abstract: In 2013, the target of polio eradication was broadened to include wild and vaccine polioviruses. In the “Polio Eradication and End Game Strategic Plan 2013-18” eradication refers to wild polioviruses (WPVs) and end game refers to managing all risks from vaccine polioviruses. WPVs can be eradicated using oral poliovaccine (OPV). Inactivated poliovaccine (IPV) is necessary to eradicate vaccine polioviruses.
