My husband, daughter, and I are embarking on a 21-Day Challenge to eat cleanly. My daughter has tried it before -- for my husband and me, this is all new, but we consented to give it a try, all in the name of family harmony. Given my recent podcast with Michael Farrington on nutrition for junior tennis players, I thought I would expand on that theme and share some recipes and menu ideas that you can adapt to suit your family's needs. At the beginning of January, Emma returned to Atlanta for a 3-month stint, testing the local acting waters. She has been living in the Los Angeles area since leaving for college back in 2007. For those of you familiar with the film/TV industry, you know how tough it is for a young actress to break into the business. Emma has definitely felt the struggle, supporting her acting passion by holding various other jobs such as math tutor, hotel restaurant hostess, preschool assistant, and birthday party princess-for-hire. Anyway, the industry seems to be booming here in Atlanta, and several people have encouraged her to give it a shot, especially since she has a free place to live! So, that whole empty nest thing is on hiatus for now, thank goodness! So earlier this week, Emma proposed that the three of us take a clean eating challenge, something she has done through Chef V (who, sadly, doesn't ship her products to Atlanta) many times herself. I should mention that in addition to having a passion for acting, Emma also has a passion for cooking and has...

CONCLUSION: Our study highlighted a high prevalence of depressive symptoms among elderly patients with diabetes. This relationship seems to be bi-directional and may increase somatic complications and alter the quality of life, and then darken the prognosis. Thus, besides pharmacological treatment, regular depression screening and psychological support are essential to ensure a better control of diabetes and to improve well-being. This study, published Wednesday in the International Journal of Cancer, was the first to pinpoint a specific temperature, according to the authors. Esophageal cancer is the eighth most common cancer in the world and is often fatal, killing approximately 400,000 people every year, according to the International Agency for Research on Cancer. It is usually caused by repeated injury to the esophagus due to smoke, alcohol, acid reflux and — maybe — hot liquids. The esophagus is a long tube through which swallowed food and liquids travel to reach the stomach. The American Cancer Society estimates that 13,750 new cas...
