The novel pyrrolo-1,5-benzoxazepine, PBOX-15, synergistically enhances the apoptotic efficacy of imatinib in gastrointestinal stromal tumours; suggested mechanism of action of PBOX-15

In conclusion, our findings indicate the potential of PBOX-15 to improve the apoptotic response of IM in GIST cells and provide a more effective treatment option for GIST patients.

A rare case of a double high-risk gastrointestinal stromal tumor of jejunum with KIT-negative∕PDGFRA-positive immunophenotype. Rom J Morphol Embryol. 2019;60(3):963-970 Authors: Boşoteanu M, Bălţătescu GI, Deacu M, Aşchie M, Boşoteanu CA Abstract Gastrointestinal stromal tumors (GISTs) are mesenchymal tumors that represent the second most common type in the gastrointestinal system, but clinical outcomes vary due to complex molecular changes. The aim of our study is to highlight a unique case of a 5th decade male, presenting a double primary GIST of the jejunum, associated with a rare immunophen...

Authors: Cao L, Zheng K, Wang H, Zhao Y, Yang Z, Li W Abstract Objective: To investigate the feasibility of laparoscopic and endoscopic cooperative dissection (LECD) for small gastric gastrointestinal stromal tumors (GISTs) without causing injury to the mucosa, compared with ESD surgery which is widely used now. Methods: A total of 25 patients with small gastric GISTs who underwent LECD and 20 patients with small gastric GISTs who underwent ESD between October 2014 and June 2016 were included in this study. All patients underwent curative resection for pathologically diagnosed small gastric GISTs. Patients' cli...

This study examined the adherence to the guidelines and the concordance of the pathological diagnosis of high-risk GISTs.Patients and methodsAmong 541 patients with high-risk GISTs recruited to the prospective registry between Dec. 2012 and Dec. 2015, 534 patients were analyzed after central pathology with KIT and DOG1 IHC and genotyping ofKIT andPDGFRA.ResultsOf the 534 patients, 432 (81%) received imatinib adjuvant therapy at a starting dose of 400 or 300  mg/day. Multivariate analysis indicated that age (HR 0.71; 95% CI 0.58–0.88), tumor size (HR for >  10 cm vs   10 vs

Background and aims: Endoscopic resection is increasingly performed for gastric gastrointestinal stromal tumors (GIST). However, the safety and outcomes remain elusive. We aimed in this retrospective study to compare operative complications and prognosis between endoscopically and surgically resected small (≤ 5 cm) GIST tumor groups. Methods: In this single-center retrospective study, we compared demographics, clinical outcomes, and the R0 resection rate between the endoscopy (n =268) and surgery (n =141) groups. Only GIST tumors in size of ≤ 5.0 cm were recruited for this comparison study. Results: Overall, the mean a...

Background The benefit of surgical resection for advanced gastrointestinal stromal tumors (GISTs) following tyrosine kinase inhibitors (TKIs) treatment was still under debate. The present meta-analysis was designed to assess the value of surgical resection for the prognosis of patients with metastatic, recurrence and unresectable GISTs. Methods A systematic search of PubMed Central, PubMed, EMBASE and the Cochrane Library database was performed. Relevant studies of the role of surgery in advanced GISTs published before 1 May 2019 were identified. The quality of studies was assessed by the Newcastle-Ottawa Quality Assessmen...
