A novel method for visualization of the inferior alveolar nerve for clinical and educational purposes

Dental professionals need to understand the running route of the inferior alveolar nerve and can do so by using gross anatomical dissection. However, the nervous system is difficult to dissect and visualize clearly because it is surrounded by a hard cortical plate. To develop an educational material for dental professionals, we visualized the inferior alveolar nerve by using the decalcification technique. We believe that the use of this device can lead dentists to better understand the nervous anatomy of the mandibular bone.
