Therapeutic management of epistaxis due to ehrlichiosis in a dog

Abstract A Labrador bitch was diagnosed that it was suffering with clinical ehrlichiosis. Dog exhibited epistaxis, tachycardia and hyperpnoea. Dog showed signs of anaemia, increased alanine transaminase and aspartate transaminase levels. Present case was successfully treated with oxytetracycline and doxycycline along with supportive therapy.

Ferric citrate is a phosphate binder that may also be used to treat iron-deficiency anemia. In human studies, ferric citrate treatment in the setting of chronic kidney disease has been associated with effective phosphate control, improved iron and hematologic parameters, and decreased fibroblast growth factor 23 levels. In the present study, mice with chronic kidney disease treated with ferric citrate have similarly improved biochemical profiles, but also have improved cardiac and renal function and prolonged survival.

ConclusionThe overall prevalence of anemia in children and adolescents is lower than the national data. Special consideration needs to be taken for female population, who are more at risk of developing ID and IDA.

The objective of the current study was to elucidate differences between the molecular mechanisms underlying FA and AA as well as to identify biomarkers and pathways associated with FA via bioinformatics analyses. Proteomic data were obtained from bone marrow samples of patients with FA and AA. Gene ontology analysis was performed using a Database for Annotation, Visualization and Integrated Discovery. KEGG pathway enrichment analyses were conducted using the ClueGO plug-in in Cytoscape. A DEP-associated protein-protein interaction (PPI) network was constructed using STRING and visualized in Cytoscape. A total of 114 DEPs, ...

Authors: Fukuda H, Takekuma M, Hirashima Y Abstract A 62-year-old Japanese woman developed numbness of the extremities and megaloblastic anemia. She had undergone total abdominal hysterectomy, whole-pelvis radiation therapy and chemotherapy for gynecological cancer 10 years before. Chronic abdominal pain, diarrhea and intermittent small-bowel obstruction had afflicted her for a long time. We diagnosed her with vitamin B12 deficiency anemia and polyneuropathy due to chronic radiation enteritis causing malabsorption. Vitamin B12 injections improved her numbness and anemia. The early diagnosis and treatment of deficie...

AbstractDifficulty in regularly analyzing marrow myeloma cells (MMCs) and low frequency of circulating myeloma cells (CMCs) in blood presents challenges for monitoring minimal residual disease (MRD) in multiple myeloma (MM). We have developed a set of method for enrichment of CMCs by immunomagetic beads (IMB) combined with flow cytometry (IMB-FCM) based on CD38-APC/CD138-APC antibodies in U266-spiked samples and in 122 patient samples. U266 cell capture efficiency of CD38/CD138-IMB-FCM (6.960, 2.574) was 6- and 2-fold higher than that of FCM (1.032), and the sensitivity of FCM and IMB-FCM was 0.01% and 0.001%, respectively...

We report a case of MCL with hyperleukocytosis that developed fatal hyperkalemia after a single low initiation dose of venetoclax.Case report: A 72-year-old man with known MCL was admitted for hyperkalemia and anemia (Hgb = 6.6 g/dL, K+ =9.6 mmol/L). Repeated K+ measurements and clinical evaluation were consistent with pseudohyperkalemia. The patient's lymphocyte count had risen from 15.2 to 466.8 K/uL in the preceding 1.5 months despite 8 cycles of ibrutinib. Based on the results of a recent phase 2 study Venetoclax was added; after a single very low initiation dose of venetoclax the patient developed fatal ...
