Effect of degree of conversion on in vivo biocompatibility of flowable resin used for bioprotection of mini-implants.

CONCLUSIONS: The hypothesis was rejected. The resin Top Comfort demonstrated lower tissue repair capacity with a lower number of collagen fibers compared with Filtek and Wave resins. The resin Top Comfort showed the lowest conversion values during the experiment. PMID: 26716818 [PubMed - in process]

At a molecular level, the effects of photobiomodulation (PBM) are not fully established. The present study aimed to assess the impact of PBM on the alteration of genes linked to Janus kinase-Signal transducer and activator of transcription (JAK-STAT) signalling in wounded and diabetic...

This study evaluates parathyroidectomy outcomes in elderly patients.MethodsPrimary hyperparathyroidism patients having parathyroidectomy as listed in the 2005 –2017 ACS-NSQIP database were separated by age: ≤60, 61–79 and ≥80. Outcomes included complications, 30-day mortality, return to the OR, operating times, and hospital length of stay (LOS). Multivariable logistic regression was used to compare patients 61–79 and ≥80 to those ≤60. Patien ts ≤60 and ≥80 were propensity score matched using gender, race, BMI, smoking status, steroid use, modified frailty index (mFI), ASA class, procedur...

It is now becoming routine to test for germline mutations in the BRCA1 and BRCA2 genes, which are responsible for a significant proportion of hereditary epithelial ovarian cancer and are established predictive biomarkers of potential benefit ...

Huang The truncated signed distance field (TSDF) has been applied as a fast, accurate, and flexible geometric fusion method in 3D reconstruction of industrial products based on a hand-held laser line scanner. However, this method has some problems for the surface reconstruction of thin products. The surface mesh will collapse to the interior of the model, resulting in some topological errors, such as overlap, intersections, or gaps. Meanwhile, the existing TSDF method ensures real-time performance through significant graphics processing unit (GPU) memory usage, which limits the scale of reconstruction scene. In this...

ConclusionMorgagni hernia is a rare form of congenital diaphragmatic hernia. It is commonly found either in the first few hours of life or in the antenatal period. It is less common in adults and is usually diagnosed accidentally in asymptomatic patients. Symptomatic adult cases are extremely rare. Respiratory symptoms are the most common presenting symptoms. The primary management for both symptomatic and incidentally discovered asymptomatic cases of Morgagni hernia is surgical correction. Various thoracic and abdominal surgical approaches have been described without a clear consensus on preference for operative repair technique.

oal Dooly In recent years, we have seen significant interest in the use of permanently deployed resident robotic vehicles for commercial inspection, maintenance and repair (IMR) activities. This paper presents a concept and demonstration, through offshore trials, of a low-cost, low-maintenance, navigational marker that can eliminate drift in vehicle INS solution when the vehicle is close to the IMR target. The subsea localisation marker system is fixed on location on the resident field asset and is used in on-vehicle machine vision algorithms for pose estimation and facilitation of a high-resolution world coordinate...
