Abstract The stroke-prone spontaneously hypertensive rat (SHRSP) suffers from severe hypertension and hypertensive organ damage such as cerebral stroke and kidney injury under salt-loading. By a quantitative trait locus (QTL) analysis between SHRSP and SHR (the stroke-resistant parental strain of SHRSP), two major QTLs for stroke susceptibility were identified on chromosomes 1 and 18 of SHRSP, which were confirmed in congenic strains constructed between SHRSP and SHR. As the progression of renal dysfunction was suggested to be one of the key factors inducing stroke in SHRSP, we examined effects of the stroke-relat...

To address these issues, a tri-layer structure, consisting of reduced graphene oxide (rGO) top-layer, Ag NW mid-layer and graphene oxide (GO) bottom-layer, is designed and fabricated by convenient spray and pressure transfer process. Different with water-soluble GO covered film, the rGO covered tri-layer film shows better...

HIGH BLOOD pressure affects more than a quarter of adults in the UK, but many don ’t know they have it. The condition can lead to heart attacks and strokes if left untreated so it’s essential to get your blood pressure checked. To determine the clinical outcome of patients undergoing emergent large vessel thrombectomy within 6 hours and ASPECTS>6 but with large core infarct volumes on pre-procedural CT perfusion imaging (CBF70cc). Mechanical thrombectomy (MT) has been shown to be efficacious for treatment of emergent large vessel occlusion (ELVO) for acute ischemic stroke. The 2018 American Heart Association Guidelines for Management of Acute Ischemic Stroke recommend MT for patients with anterior circulation ELVO with ASPECTS ≥6 and groin puncture within 6 hours of symptom onset.

To facilitate process improvement and outcomes tracking, our large, integrated healthcare system created an extensive database within REDCap which interfaces with Power BI (Microsoft). Monitored metrics include pre-hospital, Code Stroke process, advanced imaging, treatment, and outcome data  fields. Data are entered via manual abstraction, but automated daily updates of the data visualization and analytics, we enable reviewing of individual case data and aggregate standardized reports within Power BI.

We describe a novel technique using a flexible 6French/088 distal guide sheath (DGS), defined as advancement into the petrocavernous internal carotid artery (ICA), to limit antegrade flow without a BGC and reduce the distance/tortuosity for clot extraction.

A pulmonary arteriovenous malformation (PAVM) is an anomalous connection between a pulmonary artery and a pulmonary vein that lacks a capillary bed. The most common symptoms of PAVM are dyspnea, exercise intolerance, migraine, stroke or transient ischemic attack, and lung hemorrhage. The treatment of choice is transcatheter embolization with the most common embolic devices being coils (multiple manufacturers) or Amplatzer plugs (AVP) (St. Jude Medical, Plymouth, MN) to occlude the malformation. The newest embolic device for PAVM occlusion is the microvascular plug (MVP) (Micro Vascular Plug System, Medtronic, Minneapolis, MN).

Acute cardioembolic stroke (ACS) was characterized by embolus occlusion and non-arteriosclerotic cerebral arterial wall. It is necessary to investigate arterial injury caused by stent retriever and whether mono antiplatelet therapy strategy was effective to prevent re-occlusion in ACS patients received mechanical thrombectomy recanalization.
