"Active MRI" Wrist- New Paradigm for Dynamic Wrist Instability

In an article by Boutin et al published in PLoS ONE 8(12): e84004. doi:10.1371/journal.pone.0084004 ; authors discuss the development of a protocol for active-MRI using a bSSFP pulse sequence that reliably provides real-time image acquisition during movements and consequently, enables measurements of acceptable anatomical parameters associated with dynamic wrist instability.  The bSSFP family of fast gradient echo pulse sequence is best known for their application in real-time dynamic cardiovascular imaging. Vendor-specific names for bSSFP pulse sequences include true Fast Imaging with Steady Precession (true-FISP, Siemens), Fast Imaging Employing Steady sTate Acquisition (FIESTA, General Electric), and balanced Fast Field Echo (bFFE, Philips). From Sumer's Radiology Site http://www.sumerdoc.blogspot.com -The Top Radiology Magazine.
