Synovial chondromatosis -MRI

This is a 55 year old male with stiffness in shoulder. MRI shows multiple loose bodies around the shoulder joint and associated bursae including subcoracoid, subacromial and bicipital bursa. Synovial chondromatosis is a self limiting benign neoplastic process characterised by proliferative chondroid nodules of the synovium.  Usually the condition is monoarticular with large joints preferentially affected. The knee is the most commonly affected joint, followed by the hip, elbow, and shoulder, although any other joint may be involved.
