Facebook Acquires Whatsapp-Landmark Deal

Landmark in the history of social networks. Facebook buys WhatsApp: Mark Zuckerberg and his company has paid $19bn for messaging service WhatsApp.I think Whatsapp is a good strategic buy by FB.  What do you think could be the rationale? Removing a hot competitor, facilitating a shift to mobile, tapping new (younger?) audience etc. Also 450M people use whatsapp network, the value of that network, is not only based on the amount of users, but also how many contacts they have and how often they send messages.This creates a network strength that is unknown and able to distribute messages in a faster way, because unlike facebook you are always online with your mobile phone.From Sumer's Radiology Site http://www.sumerdoc.blogspot.com -The Top Radiology Magazine.
