Antifungal tablet for dogs

Animalcare has launched Fungiconazol, a veterinary-licensed antifungal tablet for dogs containing the active ingredient ketoconazole, for the treatment of ringworm in dogs. It notes that the tablets can be split four ways to enable accurate dosing and help with both compliance and cost-efficiency. Each tablet contains 200 mg or 400 mg of ketoconazole, and is administered at a dosage of 10 mg per kg bodyweight once daily. Animalcare explains that the tablets can be split into quarters or halves, allowing accurate treatment for dogs from 5 kg (one-quarter x 200 mg tablet daily) to 60 kg (one and a half x 400 mg tablet daily) and beyond. The chicken-flavoured tablets are hypoallergenic, so, the company says, are suitable for dogs with food allergies or atopic dermatitis. Both presentations are available in 100-tablet blister packs.
