In this study, we loaded aldoxorubicin, an albumin-bound prodrug version of doxorubicin, onto NFP and tested the in vitro cytotoxicity in canine mammary carcinoma (CMT12, CMT25) and osteosarcoma (HMPOS, D-17, Abrams) cell lines. The half maximal inhibitory concentration (IC50) was determined with a luminescence-based cell viability assay. The IC50 for aldoxorubicin-loaded NFP was lower than free aldoxorubicin or doxorubicin in all cell lines, whereas non-drug loaded NFP had no cytotoxic effects. There were differences in IC50 between the osteosarcoma lines, with lower and higher IC50 for HMPOS and D-17 cells, respectively,...

Abstract14 new naphthoquinones were prepared and tested against human cancer cell lines PC-3 (prostate), HCT-116 (colon carcinoma), SNB-19 (glioblastoma), HL-60 (leukemia) and MCF-7 (breast), and a nontumor cell line L929 (murine fibroblasts) to determine cytotoxicity with the MTT assay. 8-OH- β-lapachones (14a,14c,14d) presented best results, showing low IC50 values and high selectivity for HCT-116 and HL-60 tumor cells.

Brent McHenry, Brian I. RiniAbstractIn the randomized, open-label, phase 3 CheckMate 214 trial, nivolumab plus ipilimumab (nivolumab 3 mg/kg plus ipilimumab 1 mg/kg every 3 wk for four doses, then nivolumab 3 mg/kg every 2 wk) had superior efficacy over sunitinib (50 mg once daily, 4 wk on, 2 wk off) in patients with untreated International Metastatic Renal Cell Carcinoma Database Consortium (IMDC) interm...

We report a rare case of primary yolk sac tumour of the prostate with extensive local and liver metastasis, the latter of which exhibited sheets of small blue cells expressing CD99 and focal sall4 on biopsy. Positivity for CD99 and gata3 in the initial biopsy raised the differential diagnosis of Ewing sarcoma and poorly differentiated carcinoma. The primary tumour demonstrated an admixture of solid and glandular growth patterns and occasional Schiller-Duval bodies. A panel of immunohistochemical stains showing positivity for AE1/3, sall4, cdx2, and focal alpha-fetoprotein, and negativity for oct-4, facilitated the diagnosi...

Authors: Thomas CM, Asa SL, Ezzat S, Sawka AM, Goldstein D Abstract Background: Medullary thyroid carcinoma (mtc) is a rare malignancy of the thyroid gland, and raising awareness of the recommended diagnostic workup and pathologic characteristics of this malignancy is therefore important. Methods: We reviewed the current clinical practice guidelines and recent literature on mtc, and here, we summarize the recommendations for its diagnosis and workup. We also provide an overview of the pathology of mtc. Results: A neuroendocrine tumour, mtc arises from parafollicular cells ("C cells"), which secret...

ConclusionA neuroendocrine neoplasm of the gallbladder may closely resemble a benign paraganglion. If a NET is suspected, the clinician should be aware of the histopathologic mimicry of a paraganglion prior to initiating additional treatments.
