[Do weather and seasons influence our heart?]

[Do weather and seasons influence our heart?] Presse Med. 2015 Aug 11; Authors: Gibelin P Abstract There are numerous publications about impact of meteo, seasons and pollution on cardiovascular diseases. Cardiovascular diseases, in particular myocardial infarction and heart failure, have been consistently more frequent during winter in the northern and southern hemisphere. Chronic exposure to air pollution influences the development of atherosclerosis and increases the risk for coronary artery disease. There is a positive association between short-term increase in gaseous components with the risk of hospitalization or death from congestive heart failure. The considerable impact on health care service warrants a comprehensive approach to cardiovascular disease management. PMID: 26276296 [PubMed - as supplied by publisher]
