If you have ever been affected by eczema or psoriasis, you will know how distressing these illnesses can be. Sometimes considered superficial, only ‘skin deep’, these illnesses are usually chronic, resulting in long-term itching, discomfort and mental implications like stress and anxiety. The constant urge to itch inflamed skin can lead to sleepless nights, bleeding and even infection. The good news is that even if you aren’t affected by skin disease, you can still take a stand to support those who are suffering – and earn some extra money at the same time. Covance is currently looking for post-menopausal or surgically sterile women aged 40 – 65 to take part in the clinical trial of a new treatment for eczema and psoriasis. The new treatment is taken in the form of a capsule. It has already been tested in several groups of healthy men, and it shows real promise in reducing the inflammation which causes eczema and psoriasis to flare up. What’s involved? This particular study involves a 3 night residential stay at Covance’s clinic in Leeds. During this stay, you will be given a dose of the study drug or a placebo, and Covance’s highly-skilled staff will take regular blood and urine samples to track how the drug is travelling through your system.
