Peripartum cardiomyopathy.

[Peripartum cardiomyopathy]. Presse Med. 2015 Jul 6; Authors: Mouquet F, Bouabdallaoui N Abstract The peripartum cardiomyopathy is a rare form of dilated cardiomyopathy resulting from alteration of angiogenesis toward the end of pregnancy. The diagnosis is based on the association of clinical heart failure and systolic dysfunction assessed by echocardiography or magnetic resonance imaging. Diagnoses to rule out are myocardial infarction, amniotic liquid embolism, myocarditis, inherited cardiomyopathy, and history of treatment by anthracycline. Risk factors are advance maternal age (>30), multiparity, twin pregnancy, African origin, obesity, preeclampsia, gestational hypertension, and prolonged tocolytic therapy. Treatment of acute phase is identical to usual treatment of acute systolic heart failure. After delivery, VKA treatment should be discussed in case of systolic function

Authors: Santarosa C, Cord B, Koo A, Bhogal P, Malhotra A, Payabvash S, Minja FJ, Matouk CC Abstract Intracranial high-resolution vessel wall magnetic resonance imaging is an imaging paradigm that complements conventional imaging modalities used in the evaluation of neurovascular pathology. This review focuses on the emerging utility of vessel wall magnetic resonance imaging in the characterization of intracranial aneurysms. We first discuss the technical principles of vessel wall magnetic resonance imaging highlighting methods to determine aneurysm wall enhancement and how to avoid common interpretive pitfalls. We...

Publication date: Available online 10 December 2019Source: Small Ruminant ResearchAuthor(s): J. Reintke, K. Brügemann, H. Wagner, P. Engel, A. Wehrend, S. KönigAbstractThere is an increasing economic pressure in sheep production. Hence, it is imperative to use all available tools contributing to improvements in lamb survival. In this regard, there is a lack of studies addressing the impact of maternal body condition traits on lamb performances during lactation. Specifically, the focus of the present study was to analyse associations between ewe traits reflecting maternal energy metabolism and lamb body weight (LB...

Diagnostic accuracy of troponin T measured ≥6h after symptom onset for ruling out myocardial infarction. Scand Cardiovasc J. 2019 Dec 09;:1-9 Authors: Khoshnood A, Erlandsson M, Isma N, Yndigegn T, Mokhtari A Abstract Objectives: Guidelines recommend a single high-sensitivity cardiac troponin T (hs-cTnT) ≤14 ng/L measured ≥6 h after chest pain onset combined with a GRACE score

Conclusion: The results of this randomised controlled trial with assessment of blood pressure and same-day self-reports will provide patients a tool to understand the interplay between blood pressure and lifestyle applicable to primary health care. The self-management support system may be of importance for improved adherence to treatment and persistence to treatment recommendations. PMID: 31814476 [PubMed - as supplied by publisher]

CONCLUSIONS: The results have implications not only for understanding the stresses and strains within the ACL under different flexion angles, but also for providing preliminary data for the biomechanical and medical experts in regard of the injuries which may occur to the ACL at relatively higher flexion angles. Applied Physiology, Nutrition, and Metabolism, e-First Articles. We are currently facing an “obesity epidemic” worldwide. Promoting inefficient metabolism in muscle represents a potential treatment for obesity and its complications. Sarco(endo)plasmic reticulum (SR) Ca2+-ATPase (SERCA) pumps in muscle are responsible for maintaining low cytosolic Ca2+ concentration through the ATP-depe ndent pumping of Ca2+ from the cytosol into the SR lumen. SERCA activity has the potential to be a critical regulator of body mass and adiposity given that it is estimated to contribute upwards of 20% of daily energy expenditure....

However, it is still unclear whether Siah2 activates YAP in MCT-induced PAH rat model.Main methodsIntraperitoneal injection of monocrotaline (MCT) was used to induce PAH rat models. The right...

In this study, N-methylated peptide inhibitors F-N(Me)H-L, V-N(Me)F-R and R-N(Me)V-Y were synthesized against ACE, NEP and APN respectively, using their respective physiological substrates. F-N(Me)H-L inhibited ACE activity with an IC50 of 83 nmol/L, V-N(Me)F-R inhibited NEP activity with an IC50 of 1.173 μmol/L and R-N(Me)V-Y inhibited APN activity with an IC50 of 3.94 nmol/L respectively. Further, the anti-hypertensive effect of N-methylated peptides was evaluated using rat model of dexamethasone-induced hypertension. Individual peptides and their cocktail treatment were started from day 6 of the ...

In this study, we develop a composite hydrogel drug delivery system that is capable of both mechanically-sensitive drug release and of targeting inflammatory macrophages at the thrombus. The hydrogel is a high molecular weight hyaluronic acid (HA) modified with glycidyl methacrylate as a hydrogel precursor; a cross-linkable block copolymer (CBC) is used as the drug coating material and a microscopic cross-linking agent. The difference in drug release rate of the composite hydrogel (HACBC) in simulated blood vessels with 0% and 75% occlusion was as high as 49.3%. Under long-term cycling conditions in stenotic vessels, dynam...
