Acitretin Treatment Improves a Case of Severe Generalized Epidermodysplasia Verruciformis

A man in his 20s had a 15-year history of generalized hyperkeratotic wart –like plaques. Small warty papules appeared first on his hands in childhood and gradually spread over his body, merging into many large hyperkeratotic plaques and ridges during several years (Supplemental Figure 1, available online at http://www.mayoclinicproceedings.org). The fingernails and toe nails took on a coral or dendritic shape (Figure 1). Hand and foot function and quality of life were significantly impaired. The remainder of his family has no history of similar conditions.
