Maryland Governor Larry Hogan, Patient-In-Chief

Larry Hogan’s victory in the Maryland 2014 gubernatorial race surprised everyone, a completely unanticipated Republican victory in one of the bluest of blue states. On Monday, Governor Hogan surprised us with another upset, this one far less welcome to his supporters. At a hastily convened press conference, the Governor announced that he has B-cell non-Hodgkin lymphoma, a cancer of the lymph nodes, advanced and “very aggressive.” He said he felt a golf-ball sized lump in his neck when he was shaving. A series of doctor visits and tests ultimately confirmed the troubling diagnosis.
