However, the mechanism underling gastric cancer is still not fully understood. PABPC1 plays an important role in translation, control the rate of mRNA deadenylation and participates in mRNA decay, which is involved in carcinogenesis. Here in present study, we reported that PABPC1 is an oncogenic protein in gastric carcinoma. The results showed that PABPC1 is upregulated in gastric carcinoma tissues, and high PABPC1 expression predicts poor survival. PABPC1 regulates proliferation and transformation of gastric cancer cells in vitro and in vivo. PABPC1 knockdown induces apoptosis by upregulating pro-apoptotic proteins and downregulating anti-apoptotic proteins. In addition, miR-34c is a target of PABPC1, and miR-34c is critically essential for the function of PABPC1.
