Together nurses have a renewed focus on ethical issues

The ANA has designated 2015 as the “Year of Ethics.” In conjunction with this theme, 50 nursing leaders meet in Boston at Johns Hopkins University and Johns Hopkins Berman Institute of Ethics to address nursing ethical issues and to develop a blueprint for 21st century nursing ethics. From this work a vision statement was developed and eight key assumptions were identified:“The Vision: Ethics is a critical part of everyday nursing practice. Nurses in all roles and settings must have the knowledge, skills and tools to uphold their professional values.
