Final #HITsm Chat – #HIMSS23 Preview

We’re excited to share the topic and questions for this month’s #HITsm chat happening Friday, 4/7 at Noon ET (9 AM PT).  This month’s chat will be hosted by John Lynn (@techguy) and we’ll be doing a “#HIMSS23 Preview.“ As the title implies, this will be the last regularly scheduled #HITsm chat that we’re going to do.  It seems fitting that we discuss the mecca of health it conferences, HIMSS, as the final #HITsm chat since that’s where so many of the online #HITsm conversations turned into in-person meetings, friendships, work connections, and more. First, let me address why we’re ending the weekly and then monthly #HITsm chat.  Given the lower number of participants, the #HITsm chat has run its course.  While there is no doubt a lot of nostalgia around the #HITsm chat that has been running for a little over 12 years, it seems clear that it isn’t (and probably hasn’t) been providing the same value to the community as it did in the early days. When the #HITsm chat was started, it was an explosion of health IT connections like nothing I’d seen before.  Health IT professionals on Twitter were connecting, learning, and growing together.  It was amazingly fun.  Now, many of us know each other.  Plus, these conversations are happening all day every day within the community.  A weekly or even monthly chat no longer serves the purpose of connecting people or facilitating the conversation since that’s happening as ...
