Metabolic Changes After Surgical Fat Removal: A Dose –Response Meta-analysis

We read with great interest the article by Badran et al. regarding the metabolic changes after surgical subcutaneous fat removal (SFR).1 They reported beneficial effects from their dose-response meta-analysis of 22 eligible studies with 493 participants. Specifically, they showed that SFR, either by liposuction or abdominoplasty, significantly improves the insulin sensitivity for at least 6  months after surgery, while transient beneficial effects are anticipated in body mass index, blood pressure, leptin, and TNF-α serum concentrations.
