UP drug controller cancels license of Marion Biotech in cough syrup adulteration

The UP Drug Controller has cancelled the license of Marion Biotech, the Noida-based manufacturer of the alleged contaminated cough syrup, linked to the death of 18 children in Uzbekistan. The move comes after the Regional Drugs Testing Laboratory (RDTL) found samples of the cough syrup, which tested negative for quality and contained adulterated and spurious substances. The UP police have arrested three people in connection to the case; UP Drug Controller and CDSCO team have also launched a joint probe of the Noida-based facilities. The company holds an export licence to manufacture Dok-1-Max syrup and tablets.
