News A new report from Accenture, US health inequity: beyond the statistics, indicated that inequity in care contributes to an additional 3,400 Black infant deaths and an additional 9,200 Black cancer deaths annually. Proposed fixes include improved health insurance literacy – which could help could help 3.8 million at-risk patients access preventative services – and stronger standards for Medicaid network adequacy – which could give nearly 300,000 additional Black children access to specialty hospitals and drive $912 million annual Medicaid savings due to reduced avoidable admissions. The Sequoia Project launched its Consumer Voices Workgroup; co-chaired by Dr. Grace Cordovano at Enlightening Results and Shannah Koss at Livpact Inc., the workgroup will explore consumers’ barriers to accessing, using, and sharing their health information.
