The ugliness of disease and the beauty of segmentation: Toward the future of 3D education.

Segmentation is the process of dividing regions of an image into multiple segments, which correspond to different entities or parts of entities, with the purpose of simplifying the presentation of an image into something easier to visualize and analyze. Our objective was to segment different maxillofacial lesions and anomalies in CBCT scans for a 3D model. A retrospective review of existing CBCT scans that included jaw lesions or anomalies were selected. These scans were then anonymized and opened on Dragonfly 2022.1 (Build 1259).
