Characterizing and Coding Psychiatric Diagnoses Using EHR Data

To the Editor Barr et al were the first to report prevalence of major psychiatric diagnoses in the current All of Us cohort, including a detailed examination of co-occurrence and risk factors. One surprising result was the lower prevalence of psychiatric diagnoses than expected, and the authors suggest this may be due to a healthy participant bias and the association between health insurance and risk. However, 2 concerns may have compounded to decrease prevalence estimates.
