EBSA, IRS, HHS: Requirements Related to Surprise Billing

Notice of final rules from the Internal Revenue Service, Employee Benefits Security Administration, and Department of Health and Human Services implementing provisions of the No Surprises Act that protect participants, beneficiaries, and enrollees in group health plans and group and individual health insurance coverage from surprise medical bills. This rule finalizes certain disclosure requirements relating to information that group health plans, and health insurance issuers offering group or individual health insurance coverage, must share about the qualifying payment amount (QPA). This rule also finalizes provisions related to the consideration of information when a certified independent dispute resolution (IDR) entity makes a payment determination under the Federal IDR process. These final rules are effective October 25, 2022.
