Breethe Aims To Bring First Wearable 'Out-Of-Hospital' Artificial Lung System To Market
University of Maryland (UM) Ventures and Breethe, Inc. announced today that Breethe, an early-stage, Baltimore-based medical device company, has obtained exclusive rights to University of Maryland, Baltimore (UMB) intellectual property (IP) for the development of a wearable, portable blood pump oxygenator that will function as an artificial lung system for patients suffering from respiratory failure and cardiopulmonary collapse.
We report that the disruption of excitation-contraction coupling contributes to impaired force generation in the mouse model of Sod1 deficiency. Briefly, we found a significant reduction in sarcoplasmic reticulum Ca2+ ATPase (SERCA) activity as well as reduced expression of proteins involved in calcium release and force generation. CONCLUSIONS: Exogenous p51A gene can increase its expression in A549 and NCI-H1299 cells, suppress cell growth and induce cell apoptosis. Moreover, it can also cooperate with chemotherapy and reduce the dose and side-effect. p51A gene can suppress tumours in spite of p53 status and p21 gene might be involved.
