Exploring like Agatha

Can we be inspired by being in the same location as a great writer? That’s the question I’d like to ponder with this week’s writing prompt. How might the late great Agatha inspire you to dissect what happens on this cliff top walk on Burgh Island? All the photo’s this month come from Burgh Island. Burgh Island Hotel is closely linked to the crime novelist Agatha Christie, as it inspired the settings for both And Then There Were None and the Hercule Poirot mystery Evil Under the Sun. The 2001 TV adaptation of Evil Under the Sun used the island as a filming location. Several scenes from the BBC’s 1987 dramatisation of Christie’s story Nemesis were also filmed in the hotel. Please feel free to leave your first line, paragraph, or even title in the comments below. You could even use this as a starting point for a complete piece of flash fiction, a poem or short story for this year’s Hysteria Writing Competition.   And here’s my effort .. please be kind One step, two-step, three-step, four. Cate carefully counted the steps as she made her way along the cliff top path. Stopping briefly she looked down and spotted a small square of yellow fabric snagged on a branch. Unhooking it gently she looked more closely, where had she seen that pattern before? Dismissing it as nothing she popped it in her pocket and promptly forgot about it.
