The structure of urology residency training across the country continues to evolve and change based on a variety of factors including not only feedback from current and former trainees, but also the culture surrounding medicine and clinical training. Anecdotally, in many institutions, this manifests as subtle changes from year to year stemming from a conventional hierarchical model. Program directors and chairmen ideally continually reassess resident needs and ideals for training in order to implement changes and improve resident education.
