Med Mal Infect. 1984 Jun;14(6):342-346. doi: 10.1016/S0399-077X(84)80070-0. Epub 2005 May 26.ABSTRACTThe authors report the results of a study of enteric disease etiology from chilfren during one year. These study is about 155 diarrheas, 16 from them content leukocytes. Rotavirus are discovered in 38,1 % diarrheas without leukocytes. Between the bacteria isolated, Salmonellaare the most frequently enteric bacterias. After, Campylobacter, E. colientero pathogenic. The isolation of Yersinia enterocoliticaand Shigellaare frequentless. A particular mention about the associations : rotavirus - bacterias, and about the high freq...

Severe acute respiratory syndrome
Med Mal Infect. 2003 Jun;33(6):281-286. doi: 10.1016/S0399-077X(03)00200-2. Epub 2003 Jun 6.ABSTRACTIn the Fall of 2002 a report from Guangdong Province in China showed the occurrence of an outbreak of atypical pneumonia. This outbreak rapidly progressed from China to Hong Kong, Singapore, Toronto, and the USA, to more than 25 countries worldwide and almost 3500 cases to date in april 2003. The clinical features associate a fever with mild respiratory symptoms which can progress to a typical acute respiratory distress syndrome requiring intensive care unit admission. Enteric forms with diarrhea were recently described in H...

Etude épidémiologique de gastroentérites infantiles d'origine virale dans la région amienoise
Med Mal Infect. 1981 Nov;11(11):576-580. doi: 10.1016/S0399-077X(81)80043-1. Epub 2005 May 26.ABSTRACTA systematic survey was carried on stools from 130 children suffering of acute gastroenteritis. Electron microscopy, enzymo-linked immunosorbent assay (ELISA) and counter electrophoresis were employed. This survey allowed to the detection by electron microscopy of Rotavirus (40 cases), Coronaviruses (3 cases), Astroviruses (2 cases), Adenoviruses (2 cases) and Small Round Viruses (1 case). Serological tests (complement fixation, ELISA and counter electrophoresis) done with 86 sera showed a good correlation with results obt...

Viral gastroenteritis
Med Mal Infect. 1987 Nov;17(11):618-625. doi: 10.1016/S0399-077X(87)80114-2. Epub 2005 Jun 2.ABSTRACTMany virus are able to induce gastroenteritis, especially in young children with immunological or nutritional defects. The most frequently observed, using ELISA, are Rotavirus. The others : Norwalk agent, Coronavirus, Breda virus, are identified using electron microscope. Using symptomatic therapy, prognosis is related to precocious hydratation.PMID:38620189 | PMC:PMC7131556 | DOI:10.1016/S0399-077X(87)80114-2 (Source: Medecine et Maladies Infectieuses)

Necrotizing enterocolitis in a premature infant
We report a case of necrotizing enterocolitis in a 30 weeks old premature infant fed with breast milk. No ischemic etiology was present. Bacteriological and parasitological investigations were found to be negative. Only, a positive latex agglutination test for Adenoviruses was detected in stools collected the day of the bloody diarrhea. Detailed microbiological examinations are emphasized by this unusual finding because the role of pathogens in this disease deserves further understanding.PMID:38620191 | PMC:PMC7141009 | DOI:10.1016/S0399-077X(05)81185-0 (Source: Medecine et Maladies Infectieuses)

Diarrhea and HIV infection
Med Mal Infect. 2003 Feb 1;33:105-110. doi: 10.1016/S0399-077X(02)00479-1. Epub 2003 Feb 19.ABSTRACTThe development of Highly Active Antiretroviral Therapies and of protease inhibitors in particular has permitted in the last ten years to dramatically improve the viral replication in HIV infected patients but the incidence of side effects and of diarrhoea in particular remains high. In general practice, the occurrence of diarrhoea should systematically lead to eliminate an infectious ætiology of diarrhoea. Many studies have demonstrated that diarrhoea under protease inhibitors and nelfinavir in particular are of a low grad...
