Establishment of Patient-Derived Tumor Xenograft Models of High-Risk Endometrial Cancer
Conclusions The combination of 2 engrafting methods increases the tumor engraftment rate. The high tumor engraftment rate ensures the establishment of a high-risk EC biobank, which is a powerful resource for performing preclinical drug-sensitivity tests and identifying biomarkers for response or resistance. Pilot of an International Collaboration to Build Capacity to Provide Gynecologic Oncology Surgery in Botswana
Conclusions Periodic gynecologic oncology campaigns in settings otherwise lacking local capacity to perform advanced surgery are a feasible model to create access and build local capacity. Strong local collaboration is essential. Future strategies to increase impact include recruitment of more gynecologic oncologists to increase service and training availability. Laparoscopic Pelvic Exenteration With Radical Vaginectomy Using 3-Dimensional Vision and Multifunction Instrument
Conclusions Laparoscopic anterior pelvic exenteration with radical colpectomy using 3D vision and multifunction instrument is a fast and safe procedure. However, we notice that further prospective trials are needed to compare this technique with other open surgery and minimally invasive approach (ie, robotically). Palliative Total Pelvic Exenteration for Gynecologic Cancers: A Cross-sectional Study of Society of Gynecologic Oncology Members
Conclusion Half of gynecologic oncologists seem to be willing to offer a palliative TPE, although more-experienced gynecologic oncologists are more likely to reserve the procedure for curative intent. (Source: International Journal of Gynecological Cancer)

Clinical Outcome of Patients With High-Risk Endometrial Carcinoma After Treatment With Chemotherapy Only
Conclusions Patients with high-risk EC have acceptable vaginal/pelvic control rates after adjuvant chemotherapy. However, prognosis remains poor for patients with stage IIIc disease, also after chemotherapy. (Source: International Journal of Gynecological Cancer)

Adjuvant Pelvic Radiation “Sandwiched” Between Paclitaxel/Carboplatin Chemotherapy in Women With Completely Resected Uterine Serous Carcinoma: Long-term Follow-up of a Prospective Phase 2 Trial
Conclusions The long-term follow-up in this study demonstrates that “sandwich” therapy is an efficacious, well-tolerated treatment approach with acceptable toxicities. Lymphovascular invasion (LVSI) is a significantly poor prognostic factor in stage I USC. Multimodal “sandwich” therapy should be considered in all USC patients who have undergone complete surgical resection and staging. (Source: International Journal of Gynecological Cancer)

Gestational Trophoblastic Neoplasia From Genetically Confirmed Hydatidiform Moles: Prospective Observational Cohort Study
Conclusions Under the cohort cytogenetic diagnosis setting, the traditional risk factors for GTN after molar pregnancy, hCG value before evacuation and age, were confirmed in androgenetic CHMs. The risk of GTN was lower for PHMs than for CHMs. However, 1 patient with cytogenetic PHMs developed into GTN. Outcome of First-Line Hysterectomy for Gestational Trophoblastic Neoplasia in Patients No Longer Wishing to Conceive and Considered With Isolated Lung Metastases: A Series of 30 Patients
Conclusions For GTN patients no longer wishing to conceive with lung metastases discovered postoperatively, treated by hysterectomy, and whose hCG is decreasing, it is reasonable to expect and to inform patients that approximately 27% will require salvage chemotherapy. However, in patients with lung metastases discovered preoperatively, evidence to recommend first-line hysterectomy is insufficient and these patients should receive first-line chemotherapy. Assessment of Parametrial Involvement in Early Stages Cervical Cancer With Preoperative Magnetic Resonance Imaging
The objective of this study was to develop a predictive model for parametrial involvement (PMI) and to identify low-risk group of PMI in early stages of cervical cancer based on preoperative magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) parameters. Methods We retrospectively analyzed patients with stages IB1 to IIA2 cervical cancer (N = 1347) who underwent type C radical hysterectomy between 2005 and 2012. Clinical records, preoperative MRI, and its association with pathological data were reviewed. A predictive model for PMI was developed using preoperative MRI parameters for the estimation of its performance. Results Of 1347 pat...

Small Cell Carcinomas of the Uterine Cervix and Lung: Proteomics Reveals Similar Protein Expression Profiles
Conclusions We demonstrate a significant overlapping similarity of protein expression profiles of lung and cervical small cell carcinomas despite the significant differences in their organs of origin. (Source: International Journal of Gynecological Cancer)

Abdominal Radical Trachelectomy for Early-Stage Cervical Cancer During Pregnancy: A Provocative Surgical Approach. Overview of the Literature and a Single-Institute Experience

Sexual Health as Part of Gynecologic Cancer Care: What Do Patients Want?
Conclusions Demographic predictors of importance of sexuality to the patient are age, relationship status, and sexual activity. Providers primarily use age as a proxy for importance of sexuality; however, relationship status and sexual activity may represent additional ways to screen for patients interested in discussing sexual health. Patient discomfort with discussing sexuality is the primary barrier to sexual health discussions, and awareness of this is key to developing effective approaches to providing sexual health care. Quality of Life and Sexual Functioning After Vulvar Reconstruction With the Lotus Petal Flap
Conclusions Patients who underwent vulvar reconstructive surgery with lotus petal flaps seem to have a lower QoL compared with healthy women. Patients report more pain during sexual activity but are satisfied about their sexual functioning. These results should be included in preoperative counseling and follow-up of future patients eligible for vulvar reconstruction with a lotus petal flap. Caregiving Is a Marathon, Not a Road Race: Reenvisioning Caregiver Support Services in Gynecologic Oncology
Conclusions Experts, patients, and caregivers effectively engaged in social media to identify a wide range of needs of caregivers of women with gynecologic cancers. Further research is needed to identify specific support services that could meet the priority needs of a broader network of caregivers. (Source: International Journal of Gynecological Cancer)

The Impact of Sociodemographic Factors and Emergency Admissions on the Place of Death of Gynecological Cancer Patients in England: An Analysis of a National Mortality–Hospital Episode Statistics–Linked Data Set
Objective The aim of this study was to develop a predictive model for risk of death in hospital for gynecological cancer patients specifically examining the impact of sociodemographic factors and emergency admissions to inform patient choice in place of death. Methods The model was based on data from 71,269 women with gynecological cancer as underlying cause of death in England, January 1, 2000, to July 1, 2012, in a national Hospital Episode Statistics–Office for National Statistics database. Two thousand eight hundred eight deaths were used for validation of the model. Logistic regression identified independent pr...
