Which is Better in Predicting CT Scores in Patients with Chronic Rhinosinusitis after Medical treatment-Baseline Rhinosinusitis Disability Index (RSDI) or Endoscopic Score?
ConclusionStatistically significant (p <  0.001) association was found between baseline Lund-Kennedy endoscopic scores and Mackay-Lund CT scores post medical treatment. No significant association was found between RSDI scores and Mackay-Lund CT scores. ROC analysis indicated that Lund- Kennedy endoscopy score is a more accurate tool than RSDI score to predict a Mackay-Lund CT scores after medical treatment. CBNAAT: An Emerging Xpert in Diagnosis of Head and Neck Tuberculosis
ConclusionCBNAAT has a promising role in early diagnosis of head and neck tuberculosis as well as other cases of smear negative tuberculosis such as MDR TB and TB-HIV and is optimal for the diagnosis of lymph node tuberculosis and helps in early identification and initiation of treatment. Sensitivity of CBNAAT scored twice as high in comparison with microscopy thus doubling the proportion of rapid diagnoses with important effect on the patient ’s outcome. An Analysis of the Contaminants on Otoscopes of Otolaryngology Residents: An Observational Study
This study was conducted in a medical teaching hospital in India. Total of 38 otoscopes of ENT residents were examined after taking samples using sterile cotton swabs from otoscope speculum and otoscope head and both bacterial and fungal culture were studied. The study showed that 11 otoscope heads (28.94%) and 11 otoscope speculums (28.94%) out of the 38 otoscopes studied showed bacterial growth. Most commonly isolated bacteria were skin commensals followed by Klebsiella species. Fungal growth was seen in 3 out of 38 otoscope Speculums (7.89%). All 3 fungi isolated during the study belonged to Aspergillus species. Trainin...

Superior Parathyroid Masquerading as Retropharyngeal Lymph Node
We report a case of incidentally discovered parathyroid gland located in the retropharyngeal space at the level of the oropharynx.Case PresentationThe patient in this report was a 60-year-old female with squamous cell carcinoma of the tonsil T2N0M0 with MRI showing a hyperintense ovoid structure, medial to the carotids at the level of the oropharynx, corresponding to the location of the lateral group of retropharyngeal lymph nodes. Patient underwent transoral ultrasonic radical tonsillectomy along with a retropharyngeal lymph node dissection by the transcervical route. Postoperative histopathology revealed the retropharyng...

Tympanoplasty can be Concurrent with Adenoidectomy. Tube Factor Assessment
AbstractTo assess changes in middle ear pressures following adenotonsillectomies in children, and to evaluate the possibility of performing tympanoplasty at the same surgical time. Prospective study in which tube function was assessed using tympanometry on the first postoperative day and on the seventh postoperative day after adenotonsillectomies. A total of 39 children aged 6.8  ± 2.6 years were evaluated. On the first postoperative day, 79.5% presented with changes in middle ear pressure. On the seventh postoperative day, only 12.8% maintained this change. Tube dysfunction following adenotonsillectomy is transient a...

Impact of Epley ’s Manoeuvre on Quality of Life in Patients with Posterior Semicircular Canal Benign Paroxysmal Positional Vertigo: A Pre- and Post-Treatment Analysis
This study assesses the effectiveness of Epley ’s manoeuvre in improving QoL in patients with PSC–BPPV. This prospective analytical study, conducted at a tertiary care centre from January 2021 to December 2022, included 93 adult patients diagnosed with PSC–BPPV via the Dix–Hallpike test. Participants were evaluated using the dizziness ha ndicap inventory (DHI) and visual vertigo analogue score (VAS) at baseline and on days 3, 10, and 30 post-treatments with Epley’s manoeuvre. Data analysis focused on changes in DHI and VAS scores to assess the impact of treatment. The cohort comprised 58.1% males and 41.9% female...

Reflux Finding Score and Reflux Symptom Index Potential Indicators for Diagnosis and Management of Laryngopharyngeal Reflux Disease
The objective of the study is to investigate the clinical profile of LPR and its response to treatment. Three hundred consecutive patients who presented to the ENT outpatient department with a clinical profile of LPR were selected. The patients ’ symptoms were assessed using the Reflux Symptom Index (RSI), followed by an endoscopic examination of the larynx and scoring using the Reflux Finding Score (RFS). Patients were started on LPR treatment if they had an RSI score of 13 and an RFS of more than 7. The patients were then started on me dication and monitored for three months. The most common symptom in our research sam...

Beyond Infancy: Unveiling the Rarity of Buccal Cavernous Hemangioma in a Young Adult Male
We present a case of a 23-year-old male with a progressive left cheek swelling over three years. Clinical examination and radiographic imaging revealed a solid, multilobulated mass in the left buccal and masticator spaces. Surgical excision was performed, and histopathological analysis confirmed the diagnosis of a cavernous hemangioma. This case underscores the importance of recognizing and appropriately managing rare vascular lesions in adult patients. (Source: Indian Journal of Otolaryngology and Head and Neck Surgery)

To Study the Pre Operative Indicators of Incudal Necrosis in Tubo-Tympanic Chronic Otitis Media
In this study, it was observed that the presence of granulations over the perforation margins, disease persisting for more than 10 years, moderate to moderately severe hearing loss appear to be significant reliable indicators of incudal necrosis in tubo-tympanic type of CSOM. All patients of tubo-tympanic type of CSOM should be assessed in detail so as to reach early diagnosis of ossicular erosion that helps in surgical decision making and preparedness regarding ossiculoplasty and patient consent. Role of Imaging in Predicting the Deep Surgical Margin in Gingivobuccal Complex Cancers: A Pilot Study
AbstractCancers arising from the gingivobuccal complex are one of the most common types of cancer in the oral cavity and are associated with poor prognosis. Among the various prognostic factors, positive surgical margin is the most important one that can be controlled by the operating surgeon. The deep surgical margins for buccal mucosa cancers is normally assessed by palpating the skin for induration and skin pinchability. The present study evaluates the role of imaging in assessing the deep surgical margin and its efficacy for skin preservation in buccal mucosa/ gingivobuccal carcinomas. The patients of gingivobuccal com...
