Correlation between vegetarian diet and oral health: a systematic review
CONCLUSIONS: This study suggests that a vegetarian diet may alter oral health, namely periodontal health, tooth erosion, and oral microbiome. Even if the data collected prevents the effect of a vegetarian diet on oral health from being confirmed, this study acts as a starting point for future, more focused research.PMID:38567575 | DOI:10.26355/eurrev_202403_35716 (Source: European Review for Medical and Pharmacological Sciences)

In vitro antifungal susceptibility of the dermatophytes: a single center study from Eastern Black Sea Region of Turkey
CONCLUSIONS: The most common dermatophytosis agent in our region is T. rubrum. The least antifungal resistance was found against terbinafine. Conducting antifungal susceptibility tests is crucial for selecting effective treatment regimens and early detection of resistance development.PMID:38567576 | DOI:10.26355/eurrev_202403_35717 (Source: European Review for Medical and Pharmacological Sciences)

The importance of Epley maneuver in posterior canal benign paroxysmal positional vertigo
CONCLUSIONS: In posterior canal BPPV, the Epley maneuver effectively decreased VSS values and increased VDI-SS and VDI-HQoL values. In the left-sided BPPV group, there were lower VSS values and higher VDI-HQoL values that showed better quality of life of the patients. Older age and female gender are other factors related to lower quality of life with higher symptom scores.PMID:38567577 | DOI:10.26355/eurrev_202403_35718 (Source: European Review for Medical and Pharmacological Sciences)

Impact of sarcopenia on overall survival and local relapse in head and neck cancer patients undergoing surgical excision
CONCLUSIONS: The findings of this study emphasize the importance of sarcopenia evaluation in determining prognosis and identifying patients who may benefit from specialized and intensive nutritional programs. Sarcopenia harms overall survival and local relapse in head and neck cancer patients.PMID:38567578 | DOI:10.26355/eurrev_202403_35719 (Source: European Review for Medical and Pharmacological Sciences)

Elevated venous lactate level as an early predictive marker of organ failure in acute pancreatitis: a retrospective study
CONCLUSIONS: In AP patients, elevated serum HL levels signify disease severity and hold predictive potential for assessing the risk of organ failure.PMID:38567580 | DOI:10.26355/eurrev_202403_35721 (Source: European Review for Medical and Pharmacological Sciences)

Clinical study of tirofiban compared to low molecular weight heparin in the antithrombotic treatment of progressive pontine infarction
CONCLUSIONS: Tirofiban may be more effective and safer than LMWH in controlling the progression of acute pontine infarction, but further and large-sample studies are still needed to confirm this finding.PMID:38567581 | DOI:10.26355/eurrev_202403_35722 (Source: European Review for Medical and Pharmacological Sciences)

Evaluation of the effect of prostate diameters on erectile dysfunction in patients who underwent low-anterior resection
CONCLUSIONS: The risk of nerve injury will be higher in those with a small prostate transverse diameter. Intraoperative nerve monitoring should be recommended primarily in younger patient groups.PMID:38567582 | DOI:10.26355/eurrev_202403_35723 (Source: European Review for Medical and Pharmacological Sciences)

Evaluation of cardiac arrhythmia in pediatric patients with Left Ventricular Assist Device (L-VAD)
CONCLUSIONS: In patients undergoing L-VAD implantation, rhythm disorders that could normally lead to hemodynamic instability are frequently encountered. In these rhythm disorders, medical therapy should be attempted before resorting to cardioversion or defibrillation, and subsequently, more aggressive treatment methods should be considered.PMID:38567583 | DOI:10.26355/eurrev_202403_35724 (Source: European Review for Medical and Pharmacological Sciences)

Blood cell count-derived inflammation indices as predictors of the osteoporotic risk of postmenopausal women
CONCLUSIONS: High levels of SII, PLR, NLR, and MLR were associated with a high OP risk. In particular, NLR > 2.02 strongly predicted the risk of OP, thereby representing a valuable and convenient inflammatory marker of the OP risk.PMID:38567584 | DOI:10.26355/eurrev_202403_35725 (Source: European Review for Medical and Pharmacological Sciences)

Predictive analysis of severe hypocalcemia following total parathyroidectomy for renal secondary hyperparathyroidism
CONCLUSIONS: Younger patients with renal SHPT who have elevated preoperative iPTH and ALP levels are at an increased risk of experiencing severe hypocalcemia following TPTX. These findings underscore the importance of careful preoperative assessment and monitoring to mitigate the risk of this complication.PMID:38567585 | DOI:10.26355/eurrev_202403_35726 (Source: European Review for Medical and Pharmacological Sciences)

Efficacy and safety of robotic-assisted knee reconstruction: a systematic review and meta-analysis
CONCLUSIONS: The findings suggested that robotic-assisted knee reconstruction did not significantly improve functional outcomes compared to traditional surgery. The safety profile was similar except for a higher readmission rate following RATKR. Given the high heterogeneity, further large-scale, well-designed, randomized controlled trials are needed to conclusively determine the efficacy and safety of robotic-assisted hip and knee reconstruction.PMID:38567588 | DOI:10.26355/eurrev_202403_35729 (Source: European Review for Medical and Pharmacological Sciences)

Relationship of thyroid dysfunction and its manifestations in diabetes mellitus patients in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia
CONCLUSIONS: This study further proves a significant association between diabetes and hypothyroidism in Saudi Arabia. We recommend periodic screening for thyroid dysfunction in the diabetic population in specific cases; since some patients with diabetes are more likely to have hypothyroidism based on their clinical presentation.PMID:38567589 | DOI:10.26355/eurrev_202403_35730 (Source: European Review for Medical and Pharmacological Sciences)
